Etsy Site Review: Pearl's Quilted Crafts
Posted on 12:40 PMby MJ Rojas with No comments
Pearl's Quilted Crafts is all about...quilting! From purses to housewares, each patchwork piece is painstakingly pieced and sewn together by hand by shop owner Inci (pronounced "In-gee") - no machines involved! Much of these items are heavily inspired by Japanese patchwork design and even include such traditional motifs in the fabrics. Heck, if you're a kimono-lover like myself, Inci's patchwork purses would look great with a casual kimono ensemble. You will not be disappointed by her stuff - previous clients stand by Inci's top-notch craftsmanship! Custom orders are also welcomed.

Etsy Site Review: MyGemStoneBox
MyGemStoneBox creates gorgeous and unique jewelry and rosaries that convey a more personal touch. Items like the Keepsake Family Rosary can be customized with the birthstone colors of your choice. Crystals and semi-precious gem stones are wrapped in couture-sculpted wire made of rolled gold (14/20 gold filled) instead of plated. Such wire makes jewelry pieces "heirloom-quality," which will last for many generations. To note, pieces that include faceted gem stones come with a certificate of authenticity.

Some pics for you to enjoy!
My pet chinnie, Ash. She's an 18 month-old, hetero ebony cutie (she's much darker than shown in the photos) who loves making mischief. I got her during the summer from a local "mom-'n'-pop" pet store, who are reputable for being "pet mill"-free.
My friend and I named Ash after Bruce Campbell's character from the "Evil Dead" series (yes, we're THAT obsessed with horror movies). She enjoys scritches and will sit in your lap for you to pet her, but she HATES being picked up. Eventually, I hope to acquire another female (or neutered male) chin to provide her a new playmate.

Etsy Site Review: Bon`a Tirer
Posted on 9:51 AMby MJ Rojas with No comments
Bon`a Tirer (pronounced "bon au tare") is a French printing term meaning "good to pull." When abbreviated (BAT), it's an indication written on a proof when approved by the artist. The artist then uses said proof to judge all other edition prints. Hence, the shop uses that name to show that only high expectations come from their work in terms of overall quality.
The shop is run by a couple - John and Pamela Holechek, with John being the creative force and Pamela working behind-the-scenes. All of the photography in their shop is nothing short of amazing, with vibrant hues and painteresque scenery. Custom orders are available.

Etsy Site Review: Crostini Designs
Posted on 5:51 AMby MJ Rojas with No comments
Crostini, meaning "little toasts," is a charming shop, featuring unique mixed-media pieces based off of the larger-scaled work of artist and owner, Meredith Cutler. She describes them as "Small, savory bites of the bigger picture...little 'crackers' with crunch and substance."
Inspired by the fast-paced world that she lives in, Meredith incorporates various elements into her work, from the traditional, such as canvases, textiles and pigments, to digital tools, to the more unusual materials like household plastics, scrap paper and studio debris. Much of her later work, such as the one shown here, dabbles in retro-centric imagery with original illustrations and various vintage papers. Sort of reminds me of old 50s and 60s science fiction shows and movies.
